Established in 2019, Advocates for Lander Students exists to provide information to Lander families regarding FCSD #1 policies, procedures, and other important details that directly affect students.

We are a non-partisan group whose main purpose is ensuring equal rights for all students, every time. This does not always mean equality, but EQUITY in education. Recognizing that equity and equality are not synonymous, our goal is to ensure that true equity in education remains paramount in FCSD #1. We hope to share information that will help you navigate your child's school years and provide them with their best chance for success.

We are founded by educators, parents, and community members with knowledge about youth and teen development, and inspired by a need for transparency from the FCSD #1 Board of Trustees as a whole. Advocates for Lander Students hopes to ensure that families know what policies are up for discussion, how to access school board minutes, meetings, and documents, and how to communicate with your child's teachers, administrators, and the board of trustees in a way that is productive, positive, and clear.

Every child, every day is our motto. We seek to provide support for every family, no matter their beliefs, goals, educational needs, or personal preferences in a way that best serves each student.

Sometimes, this means sweeping policy changes should be considered, and other times this means that individual advocacy should be the goal. Whatever your needs, we hope to help you find the information you need. Your child is important and we see that.

Thank you for your continuing support over the years. We appreciate everything you do and know how much you love your kids. We do, too!

What we do

Through events, advocacy, and community connection, we build bridges of information between FCSD #1 and the greater Lander community.

We believe students do their best when families and educators have the right resources and clear communication. We work to raise awareness in the community about how education policies affect all students, pushing for changes that help meet their needs, and making sure underrepresented voices are heard. By sharing information, representing families, and building connections, we aim to create a district where every student, family, and educator has the support they need to succeed.
